Jack and Jill at Clayton

On the top of Duncton Down at Clayton are the two famous Sussex Windmills known as ‘Jack and Jill’. Jill, the white post mill, was originally built in 1921 in Dyke Road, Brighton, then moved by a team of oxen in 1866 to its present site working until 1909. Jack the black tower mill built in 1876 ceased working in 1908.
